Intimate Birth Photography to Document the Miracle of New Life
“We have a secret in our culture, and it’s not that birth is painful. It’s that women are strong.”
Birth Photography FAQ
How does this process work?
I will be on call for you for up to 3 weeks before your due date until you deliver. I will need up to 2 hours to get to you so as soon as you believe you have gone into labor, I need you to contact me and keep me updated on how labor is progressing. Once your contractions are 5 minutes apart, lasting for a minute at a time, for about an hour, I'll head your way. I'll be a fly on the wall, simply documenting everything. After baby is born, I will stay for a couple hours longer to document other important events like the delivery of the placenta, the first feeding, and the newborn exam.
How long will you stay?
Once I've arrived at the location that you are giving birth at, I'm yours until that baby comes. So whether they come 30 minutes after I arrive or 27 hours after I arrive, I'll be there capturing it all. I will be prepared to be there for an extended period of time with snacks and drinks, chargers, extra batteries, and anything else I may need. You just focus on your labor and what you need to do. I'll take care of me.
What if it turns out to be false labor?
I want you to call me ANY TIME you believe you may be in labor. I won't be upset if it turns out to be a false alarm. I would rather show up for a false alarm than for you to hold off on calling me when it's actually the real thing and miss the whole birth! So please don't hesitate to call!
What about cesarian delivery?
If I am allowed to be in the delivery room during a C-section, I will be! If the hospital does not allow me in the room, I will still capture any images I can afterwards for you.
Do you only photograph home births?
Absolutely not! I am comfortable coming to your home, a birthing center, or a hospital! As long as the staff allows photographers to attend births, I will be there for you!
